This book is a collection of research work done in different parts of the worldwith one common goal – to enhance teaching and learning through technology. Content interaction and learning support are some of the key issues in the book. Many of the contributors worked together, so to speak, in cyber space as a result of technological advances. Many got to know one another through conferences we attended since the late 90’s. Many of the ideas in the book were presented at ICT2006 and ICT2007. The conference attracted about 300 researchers and practitioners around the world annually. One of the authors of Chapter One was indeed a keynote speaker from the conference.
In recent years the discussion around issues of argument structure, argument projection and argument changing operations in the generative literature has focused around two extreme positions on the role of lexical entries. The more traditional view ( Lexicalist or endo-skeletal , as in Borer 2003) assumes that the lexical entry of a given verb encodes enough information to allow structure to directly project from it.
Simple Ways to Honor, Affirm, and Celebrate Life By Hal Urban 2004 Simon & Schuster Although we live in an ocean of words, we rarely acknowledge their power to uplift or put down, to inspire or discourage, to help or hurt. But in this jewel of a book, Hal Urban -- parent, award-winning teacher, and author of the classic Life's Greatest Lessons -- shows us simple and immediate ways that we can use language to change lives -- both our own and those around us. One of the observations that many readers made was that the author didn't try to sell them as a "startling and new" formula for permanent success and total happiness. Instead, they expressed their appreciation for the way he'd pulled together some simple truths that had been around for a long time and presented them in a logical, commonsense manner that helped people get back on the right track.
A two-level course that allows language to emerge naturally through songs, pictures, stories, and activities. It creates a lively classroom atmosphere that encourages children to participate actively in every lesson. The action centres around the adventures of an appealing group of children, their imaginary friend, their teddy, and their dog. The themes are central to children's lives and stimulate their imaginations. Each unit has a story in the accompanying Story Book. The children follow the pictures and listen either to the teacher or the cassette in an enjoyable whole-class activity. The children have the pleasure of a shared experience, and the teacher is able to keep the ending a surprise. The humorous, colourful illustrations maintain a high level of motivation. Level: Beginner, Ages: under 7 years (kindergarten or first year of primary school)
