The dictionary contains about 8,000 words and phrases that denote concepts associated with the phenomena of social life of the United States, government, geography, history, literature and art, education, lifestyle, sports, national traditions. The dictionary gives translations, interpretation and commentary of American cultural realities that explain the differences in meaning and usage of American and British correspondences. Authors of the dictionary underwent some training courses in the U.S. They have great experience in dealing with American culture, as well as the teaching of American studies and American English. While working on the dictionary the authors had close consultation with native speakers.
